The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests has launched a public consultation on the draft Ministerial Order approving the Guidelines for the promotion, selection, evaluation and integration of nature-based solutions and green infrastructure in flood risk management projects.
The proposed document aims to establish a clear framework for including nature-based solutions and green infrastructure in the planning and implementation of projects designed to reduce flood risk. This initiative reflects an increasingly strong shift toward sustainable, integrated and resilient approaches to water management.
Nature-based solutions can help reduce the impact of extreme hydrological events, protect ecosystems and strengthen the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities and territories. At the same time, green infrastructure can deliver multiple benefits, from improving environmental quality to supporting biodiversity and enhancing quality of life in affected areas.
The draft under public consultation is relevant for public authorities, specialists, designers, consultants, operators and all organisations involved in flood risk management, environmental protection and sustainable territorial development.
